Young & Rubicam Brands appoints Hamish McLennan CEO of Y&R Advertising
02 June 2006 – Young & Rubicam Brands announced today that Hamish McLennan is succeeding Ann Fudge as Chief Executive Officer of Y&R Advertising.
Fudge said: “Hamish has been a rising star at the agency. He has an outstanding track record in the business and I am delighted to have him as my partner at Y&R Advertising.” Fudge will continue as Chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands.
McLennan said: “Y&R is an icon in the world of advertising. It’s a great privilege to be part of the Y&R global team and I look forward to working with our people and our clients to lead our businesses into the future.”
McLennan assumes the CEO post after serving as Chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands Australia/New Zealand. In that position, he managed a portfolio of over a dozen companies in the region, quadrupling revenues since 2002 and making it one of the most successful operations in the Young & Rubicam Brands family.
McLennan joined Y&R from George Patterson Bates, where he worked for 17 years. He trained in every area of the agency before pursuing a career in account management. In 1994 he moved to Bates Hong Kong where he served as International Client Services Director. He relocated to the agency’s Sydney office before being appointed at age 32, Managing Director of George Patterson Bates Melbourne. In 1999 he was named National Managing Director. The agency merged with Young & Rubicam Brands in 2005 and was renamed George Patterson Y&R.
