Weber Shandwick Singapore Appoints Valerie Tan To Lead Healthcare Practice
SINGAPORE, 9 April 2010 – Weber Shandwick has appointed Valerie Tan as vice president of the firm’s healthcare practice in Singapore. Tan will report to Baxter Jolly, Weber Shandwick Singapore’s managing director and vice chairman for Asia Pacific. She will also take a leading role in the firm’s public sector and corporate business.
An agency veteran, Tan returns to Weber Shandwick following a five-year stint leading global media relations for Emirates Airline, where she oversaw the launch of more than 20 new destinations and the announcement of two world record-breaking aircraft orders.
Tan first joined the Weber Shandwick Singapore in 2000, working her way up to account supervisor in 2003. During this time she was responsible for a portfolio of consumer and pharmaceutical clients, receiving a 2001 Asia Pacific PR Award for Healthcare Ethical Campaign of the Year and a 2002 Singapore PRISM Award for Best Public Campaign.
“Valerie’s early success at Weber Shandwick, coupled with her international experience, makes her extremely well-suited to lead the healthcare practice in Singapore, which she helped to develop,” said Baxter Jolly, managing director of Weber Shandwick Singapore. “We are thrilled to welcome back one of our most accomplished team members to Weber Shandwick.”
